We might as well schedule in the imposter syndrome into our Kickstarter campaigns, because no matter how many times I've done this I still go through that period of "I'm a total failure and why am I even doing this" yet I still keep doing it. You're definitely not alone, James! I do like your approach to get out of town for while your campaign is running, since no good comes from stewing at home and hitting the refresh button. But for me, I think I'll wait for the snow to come down before heading to the mountains. :) You got this!
Thatβs actually not a bad idea. Day three: deal with doubt and self loathing. If itβs a checklist, I know itβs coming and can get excited to cross it off. π
Looking forward to the book, but wanted to throw out props for MTB love. As someone who lived and biked in and near Santa Cruz (and lived just miles from Specialized Bikes' HQ), seeing like-minded people, that I look up to no less, doing similar things I do when not doing other similar things I do, always makes me smile. Enjoy the gnar and remember to keep those round sides down.
Not every incident of impostor syndrome has her voice, but the ones that do hit hard. Her voice comes unbidden saying things like, βWell, what did you expect? People like us donβt deserve success.β
βPeople like usβ was her favourite way of beginning any negative comment about me. I guess she thought she was being inclusive by using that phrase instead of the word you.
After hearing from you and talking to other creative people with similar stories and similar mindsets, it amazes me that we ever create anything. I'm glad you're one of those who forge ahead.

We'll tell Tyler to add it to the next edition of the ComixLaunch Planner πππ

Hey, right on. Weβre heading back to Trestle this morning. But we should hop on a call sometime. Talk MTB and storytelling.
Sounds good. When the time is right, hit me up with a DM. Until then, safe travels.
Congratulations on funding in one day! Have fun!
Thanks. Iβm sure thereβs so match that suggests I shouldβve had a higher goal, but Iβm very happy with how itβs coming together.
My impostor syndrome sounds a lot like my mother. This too is something that must be managed.
Like, literally? Itβs your momβs voice?
At one point I gave all my little nasty voices their own personality. Which sounds crazy when I type it, but it helped.

Me too! Weβre a resilient bunch who create because of, not despite, our crummy backstories.
